missing March emails

I went to retrieve an email I recieved in March from my inbox and have found that all emails from March other then those I had starred have gone missing. I've checked all other folders and they haven't been moved elsewhere. Even delete emails from March have gone. As I don't know when they went missing I feel a restore request is probably useless as it's likely longer then 7 days. Does anyone have an idea on why this has happened and how to fix it?

A restore request is the only possible way to retrieve them and should they be restored then storing them in other folders that can be created if needs be is probably a better option.
