Are you using anything like a VPN with your laptop because if so it will need disabling.

A 288 error is related to your IP address, as explained in Sky's help guide here: https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-yahoo-mail/yahoo-mail-fix/problems-accessing-sky-yahoo-mail/articl...

If you're using a VPN, disable it while you're logging in, as @caesarome posted. If not, try turning off your broadband router at the plug for an hour which should result in your connection being assigned a different IP address.

If neither works, you'll have to pursue it with Sky, I'm afraid. The problem will be finding an adviser who knows how to fix it.

Hi I have virus protection and turned off the relevant switches and turned back on. It is no different. Technical dept spent ages trying to fix it but it seems they have given up.

As per the link @Mark39 posted, did Sky ask you for your public I.P. address?

Have you tried getting a new I.P. address as suggested?

What anti-virus are you using as that may have a VPN option you are not aware of?

If your I.P. dosesn't change after a short power off, try leaving the router off all night while you are asleep.
