Sudden loss of 6yrs worth of sent emails

Went to search for an email I sent at the beginning of last month and discovered that my sent  emails from the 10th of  until 12th Oct 2016have all disappeared. 

I have not deleted them or moved them. I have checked all the folders and they are not there.

It is bizarre that there are older emails still in the sent box and the fact that they are literally from the same date as the ones that are still in my sent box.

I have contacted Sky and the member of staff says that Yahoo are no longer a feature of Sky and he could not help with this issue. 

I have sent a restore request to Yahoo but that only mentions a possibility of restoring emails lost in the last 7 days. To be honest I do not know when they disappeared as I have been onholiday for over a week and have not had reason to checkmy sent semails.

You're not the first to experience this. Sky Yahoo Mail seems to have an unfortunate habit of randomly deleting emails from one folder or another, though not usually from user created folders. If the restore function doesn't work and you don't have a backup copy, they're gone for good, I'm afraid.

As @Mark39 has said sadly this does happen with Yahoo after all why would they have a restore feature. Hopefully you will get them back but if not it might be worth either backing them up or consider using a different one like Gmail where this doesnt happen.

Thanks, it's a poor show though. Hopefully there wasn't anything too important but it is hard to remember, bring back pen and paper. If I put things in folders does this prevent this happening?

I wouldn't say that they would 100% safe but it would be worth you doing.

I've just discovered the same thing, all sent e-mails up to 05/2015 missing, all other folders look ok. Checked both Web and mobile.

Not optomistic on getting restored as no idea when this occured, and the restore request doesn't let you give any details

Sent a mail to Restore service anyway.

I've had the same and lost about 6 years of sent emails. Has anyone had any luck with yahoo and restoring  them back even after 7 days.

Has Yahoo made any statement as to why this happens?

When I phoned Sky all they could do was refer me to the help page etc but nothing worked. I believe Sky are actually moving away from Yahoo as their internet email service.

@Ratty123 I've seen posts confirming success with restoring posts from an Inbox, but can't say I've seen anything re restoring Sent emails. Yahoo haven't commented, so far as I'm aware. It's just one of a number of Yahoo glitches. Another good reason for switching to a,different email provider.
