Sky email “connection to server failed”

Been having a problem getting my emails onto my iPhone and iPad and get message connection to sever failed. This started about month ago. Emails use to come through on phone and iPad almost simultaneously without opening email app. But every so often they do come through.
Now they don't and there is also no sync between iPhone and iPad in that if I read and delete/move a message on the iPhone that was done on iPad as well. When I try to access emails via browser it says  that sky no longer create emails.

I am now completely lost if anyone can shed any light and push me in right direction please

There is a known issue that has been reported top Apple who are investigating as other people have reported the same issue on here. So if both devices are update to date software wise all you can do until it is fixed is to use either the Yahoo email app or the Outlook one to access your emails that is if you don't want to login to the Sky website.

That shouldn't be happening. Are you trying to log in here?:

Yes when trying to connect that way,  I put my details in and it then says can no longer create email account

That sounds worrying, it almost sounds like your address has been deleted.

Can you log in here: https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details

And if so what happens when you click Yahoo Mail under your name in right hand corner?

Might be a caching issue perhaps. You could try clearing your browser cache, or try using your browser's incognito/privacy mode.

Also try using a different app on the iOS devices, maybe Outlook.

Re: Sky email “connection to server failed”

The reason why nothing works on Sky mail is because they use Yahoo. It sucks. not one day goes by without losing connection. The website saying "generate an app password" is not accessible unless you know the special web address (which I do now). The security page is almost totally blank. And it is impossible to get hold of anyone. The one time I managed it is all "sorry, it is because of Yahoo". So they'll continue to take your money and provide a rubbish service.

@PH67 Personally I'm not a fan, but to be fair Sky Yahoo Mail works fine for me. Not seeing any lost connection.

A link to the app password generator is given where you might reasonably expect to find it on Sky's help page about how to access Sky Yahoo Mail: https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-yahoo-mail/setting-up-yahoo-mail/articles/getting-started-with-sky...

There's no charge for Sky Yahoo Mail, but I imagine they would be very happy to ditch it today if it were an option!

@PH67

Like @Mark39 says, I never have any problems with my Sky email. Yahoo, whilst not the best, does seem to have improved recently.

The reason you see nothing in the security settings is because you are looking at the Yahoo settings, and they are not available to non-Yahoo addresses.

Re: Sky email “connection to server failed”

I see. So those with a sky address are truly and royally stuffed. It takes a genius to design/manage a system that only half the users can actually use.

No. Why would you think that?

Re: Sky email “connection to server failed”

Because those with a sky.com address cannot see the "generate app password" button in the security screen. Their screenshot on the helpcard shows buttons that just do not exist when I log into Yahoo directly (this is what the other person in the thread said).  Only those with a yahoo address can actually see the generate app password. The issue is really that I cannot revoke a password either, which means the system gets flooded with generate app password requests, as each one fails to work. I now use

https://www.sky.com/sky-yahoo-mail/manage-apps

to access the generate app password page.

All Sky customers have access to the Sky help page and can generate an app password. I don't understand your point about revoking a generated password. Your link works no differently from the one I referred to in my previous post.
