Sky cancelled - can I keep my email address?

I cancelled sky on the understanding I could keep my email address. I keep receiving emails from sky (?) could be spam too, as I have to click on a link ?! 
The emails say - 
FINAL MAILBOX UPDATE NOTICE !!!!

 Dear Sky User,

Our communications server records indicate that your email account is outdated. If not updated within 48 hours the server will count you as an invalid user and our service and your account will be temporarily disconnected.

That email isn't from Sky as it from a scammer who wants you to click that link to help them get access to your account and device so mark it as spam so it keeps getting deleted and do the same should you receive anymore.
