Emails disappearing after 7 days

Why are my deleted emails not accessible after 7 days?  This didn't used to happen.

If you are using the deleted/trash folders to store your emails it is advisable to create other folders for them where they will not be deleted after 7 days.

Yes I just worked that for myself. But it makes extra work

The only working is creating the folders as moving them takes seconds...
