Email issues

Hi,

 

My mailbox stopped working on my phone so I spoke to somebody on the forum who advised that i delete it and reinstall it. Now i can't get back into it as i don't know the passwords as this account is around 20 years old. It only gives the option to reset the password using a memorable date which i have tried every memorable date i can think of to no avail. Where do i go from here. I'm having a small panic.

Hi Mark,

 

Yes, it then asks for a memorable date. I have tried every date that i can think of and it still doesn't work. The option to reset the password using an email is greyed out so i am assuming that is because i didn't have another email address at the time for auto recovery.

Ok. Which mail app are you using on your phone? You might need to use an app password instead of your usual Sky password for logging in.

I am using an iphone and adding a maibox if that helps?

Try this:

 

Select either "Other" or "Not Yahoo" then use these settings:


Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server

Server - imap.tools.sky.com
Port - 993
Requires SSL - Yes


Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server

Server - smtp.tools.sky.com
Port - 465
Requires SSL - Yes
Requires authentication - Yes


You will then need to generate a 16 digit password and use that instead of your usual one, you can do that here:

Ok, so i've tried to log in many times on that link but because i don't know my password, and it keeps asking for it, i can't log in anywhere. I also don't get the option to reset my password using an alernative email address. It keeps taking me back to the memorable date that i can't remember. 

 

When trying to set up a new account on my phone, it asks for a name, email and then a password which is a required field. I need to pass this stage before it will let me enter mailbox settings.

@Lolly33 you're going to have to call, I'm afraid, to ask Sky to reset your password for you.
