I was having an issue setting up my sky email account using the gmail app on my macbook (or in chrome browser). It was saying "Server unreachable" I noted at the top is said "Provider - Sky". We know the provider for sky is Yahoo.
So I changed the email address to say yahoo and not sky..... instantly I got the connection

The 'Other' option is not available in chrome for mac. It was available in the gmail app on my samsung smart phone. So I used it there.

No it wouldn't be, Chrome is a browser not an email app.
Referring to your original post, changing sky.com to yahoo.com in the email address (if that is what you did) would be a different email address completely.
If you meant you changed the sky servers (imap.tools.sky.com, smtp.tools.sky.com) for the yahoo servers (imap.mail.yahoo.com, smtp.mail.yahoo.com) that would work.
