I have a Sky Yahoo email account opened since 2007.
I have been trying very hard to find a contact point for Yahoo to find out why my email account is beig inteferred with. I have found and raised a complaint with what appears to be a 'Yahoo ComplaintsDepartment' online but received no response.
For about the past 8 months, I have beem experiencing increasing problems accessing my email account and emails withing the account, to the point now where, either Sky Yahoo restricts email access to no more than a couple hundred emails in my inbox at a time, or the account has been hacked in some way.
I have current legal issues and this email account is vital to be able to provide and receive information.
This is becomming critical now, as access to needded email threads over previous years is being denied and I have no idea why. I have used less that 2% of the storage allocated to this account. and have never abused the account.
I have reported what appeared to be Spam emails to SKY by screen prints. These emails were asking for various login information and saying if I do not provide it by email, they will CLOSE my account. The SKY compliance officer have assured me however that all is well. Generally, as long as the account is logged into once every 12 months I can ignre the emails and pass them onto SKY. N.B. I use the account every day.
Is Yahoo still the provider of SKY emails, because the URL redirects to Yahoo at sign on.
How do I stabilize the account from these constant threat of closure of the account and the very limited access to email. Why do this????
I use the the email account fo the following: Finance, Banking, Newsletters, Subscriptions, Investment, Memberships,CRedit Cards, Family and Freiends, Mobile phone accounts, Health Centre and Hospital, Passpoet, Council, DVLA etc.
I use less than 2% of the space allocation, I have never to my knowledge breeched any guidelines, there must be little or not cost to SKY Yahoo to provide this email access, so why would SKY Yahoo be doing this?
Can someone provide an urgent answer please to this dilemma and clarity. This email is my major means of communication to many, many individuals, entities and businesses.
Many Thanks,
J. Ogle.

Find out moreYou do know you are only talking to other Sky customers on here so I'm afraid we are not going to be able to answer this for you so you or explain why you have e these issues with Yahoo. It might be worth setting up separate folders for your emails and don't store them all in your inbox. If you account is getting hacked then why not setup a new email account elsewhere to use ?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreNone of the problems you relate are normal for a Sky|Yahoo account, the possibility that your account has been compromised are therefore high. (I wont say hacked because it's more likely you responded to a phishing email)
Anyway the best thing to do is change your password as that will secure the account.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@JimmyJJ I assume you have back up arrangements in place, given the importance to you of the information Sky Yahoo Mail contains? There are regular posts here from customers whose email data has randomly disappeared.

The only response you are likely to get from that is increased spam.

Thanks to everyone for their replys.
My email account was provided by sky years ago and I had continue to use an old sky box ... @sky.com.
Now, at log in, I am redirected to the Sky Yahoo account because, from what I have been told, Yahoo took over the providing of email services o th ebehalf of Sky.
I do not quite see why now there is an issue with the email account of recent, unless the Sky servers are no longer being used or ourdated and they are migrating off of these servers. But from my recollection, and email address can be redirected to any point, be it a yahoo server or elsewhere.
Are other Sky email account holders experiencing the same issue of deminished access?
What happens to old Sky email addresses of Sky customers like the one I have containing very important emails from previous years?
Do Sky Yahoo want old customers off these servers, is it causing Sky Yahoo a problem.
The email dashboard when I sign in says Sky Yahoo and the address is Yahoo.com not Sky.com even though I sign in via Sky.com website!!!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI too have had my @sky.com email address for years (>20). The domain hasn't changed, despite it originally having been hosted by Gmail before Yahoo took over. As far as I remember it has always been @sky.com
I too log in using my normal SkyID via the Sky.com website as I always have and haven't noticed any degradation in the service. So I'm at a bit of a loss to understand the cause of the issues you're having.

Yes they did, in 2013

There is no issue of late, your problems are not general.
Sky servers were never used, before Yahoo they used Google's

Apparently not, no one is complaining. Mine (3 addresses ) are fine.
What happens to old Sky email addresses of Sky customers like the one I have containing very important emails from previous years?
Absolutely nothing, as long as they are used. Otherwise they may be deleted.

Yes, they they would love us all to just go away. It's a pain in their butt.

That's because the email service runs on Yahoo, not Sky

Jayach,
Thanks for your input. I could have been hacked, I have now changed my password. Would the Sky Yahoo be aware of / detect a hacked email account?
More Spam email I can do without.
Mark39 – Backup arrangements? I have been trying to archive the emails, some issues though; email search results was reduced to just 1000 emails each time and now to only about 200 emails. So as you select by date, you get 200 email results, you archive that and repeat the process. Now, all emails older that a day have a line through the email address and subject line, obscuring all information such as who the email was from or the subject matter.
That is how I log in too, so what is going on here? I have used a VPN for the last 18 months but the login issues showed up about 8 months ago.
Sky have millions of customer, so there will be members of the public with @sky.com email accounts, both old and new. I am at a loss as well.
Caesarome - Mine go to my sky email address too and would like it to remain so. I have spoken to SKY and they have said all is well with the account, and as long as I log in once every 12 months, the account status will be fine … I login at least once a day!
Jayach – This is a mystery. No email issues since 2007 whether Google or Yahoo servers and ‘redirections’ are an essential part of facilitating seamless email movement.
Well, the problem is not the @sky.com address because contributors here have the same @sky.com ending addresses. My email has been fine since 2013 whether the dashboard says Google or Sky or Yahoo until now.
Unless I have contravene some rule or other, all I want is the continued use of the email account like other @sky.com users. Finding a Yahoo Customer Service person is as rare as hen’s teeth.
Who is the email provider, is it Sky or Yahoo or both? Are they obligated to provide this service once it was started, this has to be a technical issue but who do I turn to to get it fixed?
I am getting quite worried now, all of modern life now runs online - through emails and mobile phones; at least mine does!! Like everyone else, some of these emails have important attachements including legal information and you need to access them.
Is there an Ombudsman or some entity I will be able to speak to, to get clarity as to what the problem may be and how to fix it?
Thanks for your contributions.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYour Sky email is provided to you by Sky as a free service. I doubt any Ombudsman or other regulator will be interested in a free service.
I do suspect your account has been compromised (ie someone has gained access, you may call it "hacked" but it is more likely you gave the details via a phising email)
Now you have secured it again by changing the password you need to check for any changes they may have made, such as setting up filters or adding "reply to" addresses.
Sky don't have a help page specifically for that, but following the steps in this one may help.

Hi jayach,
I was in contact with Sky and they got me to change from the Firefox browser I was using, to the Chrome browser, and that worked on the day; I was able to login to my account. We will see whether this is a temporary or permanent fix. Firefox is a large, well established and resourced browser provider, I would doubt the problem is at their end. Nevertheless, I am getting in touch with them to send across screen prints of the issues I was having, hopefully they have come across it before and has a remedy.
Nothing is really for free, an extracted value whether fairly or otherwise, it is reported, often accrues to the benefit of providers offering free Social Media registrations; it is not free!
Anyway, whether free or otherwise, it is still a service and I would like to think simply through the volume of important documents that is delievered via email to million of inboxes, there would be some requirement for Emial providers to have to offer a level of service to it users; an email address is a pre requisite to receive a wide range of services from both the private as well as public sectors.
Gmail is free, Outlook is free also I believe, I suspect there is a reason for that.
Keeping my fingers crossed Firefox may have an answer.
Thanks, all.
