upgrading superfast to ultrafast

Looking to move from superfast to ultrafast, got a couple of questions though regarding the ONT that will get installed.

Can the engineer install the ONT at a different place to where the existing phone line comes in the house? Our phone line comes in on one side of a radiator, and ideally we'd like the ONT on the other side of the radiator, nearer the TV and the power sockets.

If not, how long is the power cable for the ONT - is there a decent amount of length?

Final question - I'm assuming the ONT can be plugged in to an extension cable, it doesn't have to be plugged direct into the wall socket. The lack of power sockets in this house means we'll need to use an extension for power.

Thanks!

@jsl1903xxYou would be better having it plugged into its own power socket and other devices connected to the extension. You should be able to speak to the engineer on the day on good placement as they will want to have the ONT near to a wall socket.

If someone has helped give them Like.

@jsl1903xx going by my own experience and reports in the forum the engineers do their best to install the ONT where the customer wants and given it needs power your suggested position sounds sensible. The power lead looks to be roughly 1.5m. My ONT is on an extention lead with no issues. The power supply is built into the plug.

Re: upgrading superfast to ultrafast

Thanks for the replies, one last question - how big is the ONT? As it'll be sitting behind the TV rather than in a cupboard we don't want anything too big on the wall!
