the laptop does not see the connected cable

when I connected the internet cable to the adapter, the laptop system reported that there was no internet connection. I ran diagnostics and received the answer that it could not find the IP address, I tried resetting the network and reinstalling the driver, it did not help

What 'adapter' is this?

OK, so that's an internet router, not an adapter (it's actually a rebadged Sky Q Hub)

 

Is the internet connection working for other devices?

 

Has the laptop worked on ethernet cable elsewhere?
