Hi Eeeps,

I'll give this a go...though it doesnt make sense to me as the static ip for the laptop will now be outside of the range of the sky router - unless changing the subnet settings change it somehow??

Yes, changing the subnet mask in the way I suggested widens the subnet range.

Thus the Sky router (and all the associated DHCP assigned addresses) are still directly accessible by the laptop.

Are the camera IP addresses in the 192.168.2.0/24 range? What software have you used to set these statically in the past?
