not getting guaranteed minimum speeds
Hi, I've been with Sky for a while now. Previously had Ultrafast broadband with speed checker (extra £10 per month) which checks I get the correct speed everyday. When checking on the Speedtest app on my phone (S23 ultra), I used to get a very steady download speed of 150mb/s, which is what I was paying for. I have not long upgraded to 900mb/s gigafast and had full fibre connected. The engineer who installed it and checked using an ethernet cable, and tested it using fast.com along with checking what I got on the speedtest app, it was registering between 530 and 570mb/s. A week later and it's no different. The engineer said the box I have in my house has a capability of receiving 2.5gbs and it is much more stable than the copper wire. So thing is, I'm paying for a 900mb/s speed on full fibre and I'm losing about 400 mb/s compared to losing 0 mb's when I was connected to the copper cable. This doesn't seem right.

Re: not getting guaranteed minimum speeds
@MD38 the guaranteed speed is to the hub and with full fibre you normally get what you pay for. I suspect the issue msybe simply that you have a black Sky hub which uses WiFi5 which tops out around 600Mb/s give or take. You need a WiFi6 router like the white Sky Max hub to get the full 900Mb/s over WiFi.You should of course get the full bandwidth over a gigabit ethernet link.
Given there are very few if any apps that can use 100Mb/s let alone 500Mb/s you may well decide you dont need to upgrade. Howevever if you do you will have to buy Sky's WiFi Max bundle that includes the white hub.

Re: not getting guaranteed minimum speeds
Thanks for the reply. Shouldn't they issue you with the latest hub if that's what I am paying for? Doesn't seem to explain the engineer's results of the slower speed though.

Re: not getting guaranteed minimum speeds
I wasn't told that I would get slower speeds if I remain with the black hub and that there was another type of hub that would give you faster speeds.
