hi - i have moved into a new home and tried to change my address but it said technical difficulties. i still have my router from the previous address, hoping to set it up here... thought I could just plug it in and change my address oops

Unfortunately that's not how terrestrial broadband works: the circuit is specifically provisioned at the address and doesn't follow the ISP router around.
You'll need to persist with booking a Home Move, and there'll be a minimum ten day wait (probably longer due to the Bank Holiday) before activation at the new property.
