WiFi slow since upgrade
I recently renewed my Sky tv and broadband contract, moving from Sky Q to Sky Glass, and renewed my part-fibre broadband with the promise of slightly improved download speeds on Superfast 80 and a new Sky Max router to replace the black one. The TV is great, and with a wired Ethernet connection is mostly fine. But whilst the download speed has improved from around 32Mbps to 39Mbps, the actual time it takes just to browse basic social media content or do a google search on an iPhone has gone up significantly, sometimes it's quicker to turn WiFi off and use 4g. And I'm only 5m away from the router. It was fine before I renewed and upgraded. When I look at the Sky app it often says there's an issue with the broadband, but it's help is just to check it's connected properly, which it is. The signal doesn't reach as far as it used to, and whenever I turn my iPhone on it takes a few seconds for it to reconnect to the WiFi. How can an upgrade and higher speeds result in slower real-time downloads of basic content on our mobile devices?

Re: WiFi slow since upgrade
@MartinBW the speed of any FTTC connections are primarily affected by the length and condition of the copper phone line. Sky test the speed to your hub daily and you can find the last 3 weeks results in the Service Checker in the My Sky app. See what that tells you as the warning implies thst maybe an issue where line errors are causing the delays you report. The system managing the line will reduce speeds to stabilisec the connection..
Whether Sky can get anything done though depends on how long this has been going on. This is due to Openreach's increasing reluctance to do more than work on partial fibre lines and we see reports of Sky offering to release customers from contract as Openreach cannot fix the issue. Unfortunately unless you have decent mobile coverage or access to a different netwirk as switching isp using the same line does not help.

Re: WiFi slow since upgrade
Thanks for your reply. It's been going on for six weeks since Sky renewed the contract and upgraded the speed and the router. Prior to that we didn't have any issues.
