WiFi dropping out

My WiFi is dropping out about every 20minutes when I am on my laptop or phone in an upstairs bedroom. It is as though the router is not able to send a strong enough signal across the house. My android phone defines the signal as fair good and not connected when the devise is not being moved. This is becoming a increasing frustration for all the family.
