@Chimpishuk

That doesn't sound correct: how is it in the interest of Sky to have a subscription household in possession of two loaned Hubs (only one of which can be in use) and loaned white pods which can't work with a black Hub?

No, it doesn't does it.  Yet that this is exactly what I was told by the glass and stream team today.  With notes to that effect on my account.

Re: WiFi Max

So, when they make it Sky Q compatible, I can get a router upgrade for free.  Order Max, exercise cool off rights. Nice!

Which is exactly why I suspect that this is a particular instance and not a general rule: charging extra for a 'better' router is now established in the Sky Broadband business model.

Re: WiFi Max

Yep, totally agree.  Wishful thinking.  I get paying for upgrades on the lower packages but when you're on the top package you should get the latest kit as standard.

Presumably they could do that quite easily, but gigabit broadband would be £7.50 a month more expensive....

Re: WiFi Max

Right now, the latest kit is of questionable reliability.

Re: WiFi Max

Apologies if I'm asking this in the wrong place but I've just "upgraded" to the WiFi Max service & wondered what the situation is with the "old" broadband boosters (SE210)

I've still got one lying in a box following my recent house move that I've yet to reinstall, will this work with the WiFi Max hub or do I need to get the new booster(s) that go with the new hub?

Thanks

Re: WiFi Max

@Steve-35

The SE210 booster isn't compatible with Sky WiFi Max. If you need boosters then call Sky and they will supply the WiFi Max Pods.

@mae-3

Thanks. I was sure I'd read somewhere that there was a booster(s) that wasn't compatible with the new hub, just wasn't sure which one it was.

I'll give Sky a call & see about a replacement.

Re: WiFi Max

No it definitely isn't compatible which is why I insisted that I kept my SR203 router when I cancelled my Sky WiFi Max.

Since the Glass rep I spoke to said I should keep all the kit, they sent out a returns box for a Booster 4, a Sky Q Hub and a Sky Q Main box.  What on earth is going on at sky.  I haven't had Sky Q for 5-6 months and it's all been returned appart from my booster 4.

Re: WiFi Max SR210

Hi All,

Does anyone know how many firmware updates the Sky Pods and Sky Router has had this far?

Does Sky publish data on firmware or fixes?

Re: WiFi Max

"Questionable reliability"

I'll say. Connected my shiny white new hub this morning, no issues setting it up just the same as orignal one on my gigafast line.

Connecting to the wifi was a little laboured, but it did, then it didn't.

Wifi connection dropping on all devices every maybe 30 seconds, wifi strength 4 out of 6 when it was 6/6.

Tried a speedtest, 59, was pretty much always 250/300.

Left it a while, the hub stayed connected, but the wifi output kept dropping and remained slow, despite resets. Used the MySky app for diagnostics it shouwed hub connected, issues with wifi, showed the devies and half of them were unhealthy so it advised getting one of the boosters.... Yeah, obviously that is the problem with Sky's fastest ever hub....

Plugged the old hub back in, perfect again.

I did not anticipate issues, just wanted the wifi6, glad I kept the box.

Probably, yes, but it looks like Sky just isn't going to offer the new Hub to Q households for now.

" Existing customers with Sky Q won’t be able to purchase WiFi max until later this year  "

https://www.skygroup.sky/en-gb/article/Sky-Broadband-releases-its-most-powerful-WiFi-yet

A little "late to the party" as I'm not as active on here any more but I just spotted this today "We'll make sure you get our best Broadband Hub" with Broadband Boost.

Also not sure how Sky Business Broadband can use the new WiFi 6 Hub when a business is run from a home that has Sky Q, unless of course the hard wired idea works.

Does it work?

Passing on the tips I have learned in over 24 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.
