WiFi/Dropping/Poor Coverage

Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone can help me?

I get roughly 60mbps in to my router (Sky Q) and it's wirelessly connected to a booster to get connection in the kitchen, alongside 2 x mini-boxes, one in the front lounge and one in the bedroom. My office is based upstairs - only place in the house I can work quietly.

The problem I have is that the wireless in the house has some major issues. Firstly, by the time it gets to my office it has halved, and if someone in the house is streaming, it drops to single figures. Furthermore, when I look at the uptime of the wifi connection, it drops connections every few seconds - so skype calls or live streaming just terminates. When I connected via ethernet, there os no issue with this.

I had hoped to put a new mesh network in place, but the Sky router doesn't play nice with anything else, so I was forced to sell it on.

Unfortunately, I've just started a new job and the laptop they've supplied me doesn't have an ethernet port, so I can no longer use a wired connection. Any ideas?

I'm happy to try anything? Ethernet to a wireless AP? Happy to if it's going to work.... Sky Booster? Again, happy to if its going to work. I just don't know what the answer is but I need to find some solution.....

As noted in other posts, the Q mesh is antique (released 2016) and really not comparable to modern systems.

The key with replacing it is to have the Sky WiFi switched off everywhere: that means using mesh nodes which can supply Mini boxes with an ethernet connection.
