What A Mess

Got sky cityfibre 900mb installed about days ago, everything was great the first 4 days, then everything from utube, netflix started buffering,I'm the only person using my connection,so I installed my asus router so I could use thinkbroadband bqm to monitor my line and sure enough I'm gettting massive latency spikes and dropped packetsIMG_0054.jpegIMG_0053.jpegIMG_0052.jpegIMG_0051.jpeg

@Hash70 unfortunately for Sky will require a Sky hub to be connected before they will investigate the issue which is a bit of a catch 22 but I agree those plots look bad. Couple of possible theories if you power down your connection for an hour which should force a change to the node on Sky's server which could be causing issues if it is faulty. The peak at 6pm is curious as while it is at peak time it seems unlikely loads of your neighbours suddenly start using their fibre connections. The forum does see contention issues repoted on Openreach full, fibre but this is the first I have seen on a CF line out of interest are Sky offering the 2.5Gb/s and 5Gb/s services on your line or is it limited to 900Mb/s?

Re: What A Mess

I'm sure they offer 5gb on my line aswell, this issue using the sky router is I won't be able to monitor my line with thinkbroadband bqm,the actual speeds are fine, usually around 850mb,and sky response will probably be my line is fine cause my speeds are fine,I tried cityfibre 2y when they first installed and I left cause of similar issues,I presumed it was jst early teething problem and with my virgin contract finishing next month I decided to try cityfibre again,

Re: What A Mess

@Hash70 What sky hub do you have available for the connection, think i saw on the latest that icmp was available direct on the SR203 with the latest FW update, will take a look at that hub later, have copied couple bqm's i started one off on the 14th, all the earlier's where fine so no issues that were outstanding home wise to my Asus Ai Mesh, and there is around 20 devices connected across the four mesh AP's with various backhauls applied but it is all FF500 connection and OR.

1st1st2nd2ndNever even noticed the 8pm busy packet drops so not sure how was doing what!Never even noticed the 8pm busy packet drops so not sure how was doing what!4th so far to date.4th so far to date.

Edit:- took a look nothing in the Asus log files for the 8pm packets so suspect external issue, also the SR203 is by default set to respond so good change the BQM will work, have mine disconnected so cannot try it for you!

Re: What A Mess

I jst decided to cancel sky broadband and stay with virgin, cityfibre jst dosent work good enough in my area as I've tried them 3 times over the last 3y,first Vodafone, then I tried brawband  and now sky, they all exhibit the same latency issues,it started off great for about 5days with very clean bqm, then it fell apart with massive latency spikes and dropped packets which was causing buffering

Re: What A Mess

@Hash70Hard to say, not much CF stuff out there so have to rely on your present and past history with them, sure not good if after two years they have not improved! Hope your VM works out for you!
