Underground or overhead?

moved in to new house on 10th. Engineer came today to fit full fibre for our new sky package. He was unable as the pole in the street did not have a fibre point. The nearest one would mean take a huge line over someone elsea house! Besides he only ad ladders. Hes off to tell whomever it needs sorting. However, the previous occupant had copper fed bt internet. It comes up through the garagecfloor from a duct. Openreach guy was adamant it has to come from a pole. The address checker reads Single dwelling with oh feed, line of sight poblem. Id prefer an underground feed but id just be happy to get the tv on!! Is he correct my copper duct is no use? Thanks

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

If Openreach has deployed overhead fibre and pole-mounted Connectorised Block Terminals in that area, a duct is no use at all because that requires pavement or cabinet CBTs.
