Switching provider & notice requirement

Long time since I last switched broadband so apologies in advance for asking basic questions:

My current 18 month discount period with Sky ends 10 March. Given that Sky require 14 days notice to leave, and as I understand it, it takes roughly 14 days for a switch of provider to be completed, can I set this in motion this weekend and be reasonably safe in assuming that Sky will be getting the required notice etc?

@Blenheim15  If your switching to a provider who uses the Openreach network that provider will inform Sky they are taking over the broadband service, you don't need to tell Sky.

@Blenheim15
To cancel Sky Broadband and Sky Talk totally, or if you’re moving to a provider like Virgin Media or City Fibre etc who don’t use the Openreach set up, you'll have to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days, but if you are still in the initial 18 months deal Sky could impose cancellation charges. As stated above, if you are changing to another provider who also uses the Openreach infrastructure then join up with them and they should contact Sky on your behalf.

Return packaging will be sent out to you near the end of the notice period. Remember to keep any proof of posting indefinitely.
