Hello
I'm thinking about switching from my Virgin Media connection, to use Sky Ultrafast (145Mb/s) instead.
My current set-up consists of:
WIFI hosted on ASUS RT-AX86U, connected to Virgin SuperHub in modem mode.
Can someone give me some techincal details on how the actual "Ultrafast" is connected to a home ?
Is it a FTTP ? In so - will it have the Openreach box that terminates fibre in the premises ? Or is it a standard copper connection , using phone line junk ?
Will I be able to use my ASUS router ? Essentially I do not want to decomission my router, as it has perfect signal strengtht throughout my whole home. Plus I have everything configured, and don't fancy reconfiguring my whole wifi yet again.
Would appreciate some hints / answers.

The line would terminate in a dsl style mastersocket with g.fast written on it . The go to modem bridge would be :-
DrayTek Vigor V166 G.fast & VDSL2 Modem, IPv6 and IPv4 Compatible, 2 Gigabit LAN Ports https://amzn.eu/d/b4loH5y

Ultrafast 1 can be FTTP on a purely optical connection or (more rarely) G.fast over copper.
Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Sky Hubs do not have a 'modem mode', and note that without a Sky Hub there's no way to access the bundled Sky Talk voice calling.
You'll find discussion of that and other router models elswhere in this forum.

I do not care about phone line or voice calling.
All I care is the broadband. Is it possible to hook Sky Ultrafast directly to the ASUS router , without using the SkyHub at all ? (that would be preferable)

Further to @TimmyBGood post and link to the bt wholesale website. The asus will work directly connected to a fttp ont but if you have g.fast an additional g.fast modem would be required. The link will tell us which connection you have

Thanks for that link - that is something I've been looking for !
The answer for my home addres I got was that FTTP is not available (details below)
That means it would be the G.fast over copper then, right ?
How does that terminate - does it use a DSL type socket/connection directly to the SKyHub ? (just guessing) ...

sorry forgot to ask:
what G.Fast modem model would you recomend ?

The SR204 (alternative version of the Sky Broadband Hub) has a G.fast modem, yes.
Maybe just note that some forum posters have found that where they are on G.fast from Sky and FTTP is subsequently deployed there's no straightforward migration path to the faster technology.
