Hi all,
Im on Sky Superfast 35 and its very stable which was the reason i satyed with Sky for my broadband. Unfortunately the speeds are really slow, im getting 24 into the house according to the Sky app speed check but the speeds over wifi and ethernet are really slow. I know that speeds slow down due to traffic and number of devices but at the minute when i do an ookla speed test on my phone im getting 1.28 download/0.67 uplift, my son does a test on his PC that is connected via ethernet and hes getting around 1.5gb download. - And its my son who's feeling it the most when it comes to updating games etc..
What could be the issue? i pay a fiver extra on my broadband for the bradband boost but not sure what this actually gets me!?
Thanks for any help and advice in advance.

You are just 4Mbps above your guarantee with just 1 line drop a 353 hours ago. Unfortunately this doesn't meet the criteria for sky to investigate.
Re ookla speed tests they tend to be down on mobile devices on 2.4ghz and therefore have a lower bandwidth than 5ghz

Not a lot, frankly. Despite the unfortunate choice of marketing name, 'Broadband Boost' cannot in fact 'boost' broadband speed delivered to an address beyond what any particular copper line is physically capable of.

Steam use Megabytes per second abbreviated to MB/s while Sky and isps quote Megabits per Second abbreviated to Mb/s. There are 8 bits in a byte so your 24Mb/s connection is 3MB/s (actually you wil get a little less due to overheads). If he runs a speed test from Ookla or similar on his PC with nothing else using the link he should see speeds around 21Mb/s.
Your connection looks fine for what appears to be a long line and Sky's service normally deliver full throughput so its only traffic on your network that will drop speeds. Boost is a bundle where by Sky offer boosters if you dont get 3Mb.s over wifi in every room amongst a few other "perks".
At a speed of 2.5MB/s it will take over 3 hours to bring down a 30GB gamme file and some games are far larger than that. Can I suggest he schedules downloads to run overnight?

@Chrisee this actually makes sense to what he's telling me timing wise to download an update..... Im not sure if he's aware of the difference in the way its measured so will tell him about that.
I think the speed test he did was on ookla on his PC but i'll ask him to do it when he's not downloading anything . .
Thanks for your reply and explanation

I would recommend you try and avoid doing downloads during times you want to use the connection for streaming, gaming etc as your connection speed is not that high so cant support simultaneous use.
