Some Netflix shows missing when using IPv4 ?
fyi
A relative has Sky ultrafast broadband and talk. They also have a separate Netflix subscription. They are using Sky broadband hub - 2020 wifi 5 router
A few weeks ago, they noticed some dramas had been suddenly removed but later discovered the missing shows were visible in Netflix search, when using web browser on windows laptop to view Netflix. Neither the Amazon fire tv stick (3rd gen) or Roku streaming device could find the missing show.
I went over to investigate and discovered the alleged missing shows (New Amsterdam is one example) can be found and viewed on laptop via web browser provided the laptop has IPv6 enabled.
As soon as I disabled the IPv6 stack in Windows, and logged into Netflix via a web browser, the shows could no longer be found using IPv4 stack.
The Roku stick only uses IPv4.
The 3rd gen Fire TV stick Lite seems to support both IPv4 and IPv6, but it is not clear if the Netflix app is using IPv6 or IPv4.
The netflix app on Fire TV stick appears to be using the new style Netflix Home page. Whereas, the Roku stick and web browser on Windows laptop are still using the old style Netflix home page. ie. the new Netflix Home page rollout is not the cause of this problem.
I have a 4th gen Fire 4k TV stick and I can see the missing show (New Amsterdam) listed when I use their Netflix account to test on my Plusnet connection. Plusnet are IPv4 only.
I tried restarting the sky broadband hub, to hopefully acquire a new WAN IPv4 address, but it did not resolve the Netflix issue.
I've seen old posts about SkyQ customers reporting some shows being missing on their SkyQ box but not on other devices in the past.
This is clearly a Netflix issue, possibly unintentionally blocking some Sky IPv4 addresses.
'New Amsterdam' series appears to be only available to UK and Australia. No longer available to any other region since January 2025 according to Google.
I will test my 4th gen Fire TV stick connected to the sky hub later this week.

Re: Some Netflix shows missing when using IPv4 ?
@Bob+L never heard of issues with Netflix where some shows only appear with an IP6 stack. Bt default all Sky broadband connections use a dual stack. New Amsterdam is showing & playing on the app in my iPad and on my Sky Stream puck although the series is also showing on a Sky channel which comes up if you search.
Netflix do continually add and remove shows as rights packages change and what shows are listed varies by the market so Irish Netflix is different from the UK version. I doubt Netflix are blocking Sky IP4 addresses but it is possible but that isnt something Sky can help with. You would need to speak to Netflix support but from past experience I would not expect much help from them.
