Slow Ethernet

Have gigafast FTTP  broadband.  In the process of upgrading some network components and I've noticed I'm only getting around 200Mbps MAX from direct connection to the sky broadband hub.  I've replaced cable from the ONT to port 4 ont the hub and from hub to laptop with tested cat6.  I've removed all other connections to the Hub and still only get 150-200Mbps.  WiFi I can get about 320Mbps if i'm sat on the hub with my phone.  Hub settings seem to be ok (gigafast setting on ethernet tab).

My sky checker suggests 'all is well'.  Tried couple different cables and rebooting everything.  Cant understand 1. why the values are so low and 2. why wifi is faster than ethernet!

Any suggestions or is it a dodgy hub

Do you have Sky Q television?

This is known to do weird things to cabled network speed.

Re: Slow Ethernet

Yes.  It's on a wired connection, but disconnecting it doesn't seem to make much difference.   Any idea how I verify it's that or try to get around it.
wiring directly from ONT to hub to laptop with nothing else on Ethernet I still only have 200mbps

are other people getting the full 900?

Re: Slow Ethernet

@shauns1 When you are laptop testing the Ethernet connection and the wan connected to the ONT, only that device and all the wirless devices off, is the laptop connected to power and not running on battery, also do you know if the laptop is capable off such speed's pushing up to the 980Mb/s speed limit, you cannot take that for granted, your hub can do faster as you have said you reached 320Mb/s on a wireless Wi-Fi connection.

Take a look at the service checker and expand the Broadband > you should see the last 30 Day history for what sky have recorded when they do the daily check! Link is below!

Re: Slow Ethernet

Think I've found the answer to this..........move to Vodafone. Much cheaper, better router, better calls package and a free Apple TV box.  Plus they don't seem to make it impossible to talk to a human being about anything other than upselling their products.
