I have had sky ultrafast broadband since September 2021, the speed was not as high as expected but still ok 200-300.
The last couple of months I have been struggling to see 150, so I spent AGES on the phone yesterday to some kids reading from a script, which was completely unhelpful and at times patronising so in the end I just took their word that the speed reaching the house was above the guaranteed 400.
Following this I went to the WIFI hub settings and started to play around, I eventually found that changing the 2.4ghz wifi channel to 6 and leaving the 5ghz to 36 followed by a full power down and restart gave me very close to 400mbps, I have monitored the speed for 24hrs and it continued to perform at the same high speed... Until this morning, and then BANG straight back down to less than 100mbps.
I have checked the hub settings again, and nothing has changed. PLEASE can someone save my sanity and share any advice that you have to resolve this ridiculous situation, could it be the Hub itself? I see no reason why I could suddenly lose 300mbps without anything changing!
Thanks in advance

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSounds like WiFi interference. You temporarily solved it by changing the WiFi channels and likely forcing your device onto the 5ghz frequency but overnight that solution has stopped working.
What you could do is separate the 2.4ghz & 5ghz bands then connect your device exclusively to the 5ghz frequency for the higher speeds.

@jamesn123 thanks so much for your advice, really appreciated! I will give this a go but I'm still a little apprehensive, I just watched the speed jump up for an hour and now back down again, I would expect some difference between the two channels if we are blaming wifi interference but 300 is pretty excessive. Again, it was consistent for 24 hours and now just spiking up and down.
Anyways, thanks again, I'll try and split the channels and report back.

Split the channels, full power down and no change to speed at all connected to 5ghz channel, if anything it was even worse.
As soon as i changed the 2.4 channel yesterday it instantly rocketed to 400 on all devices and stuck for 24hrs, It's really frustrating that I know the speed is coming into the propoerty, but it's just not being transmitted from the hub!
Hopefully somone has another idea, I'm currently rocking 90mbps of my 400+ 😞
