Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
Sky are offering me a full fibre package but I know that full fibre hasn't been built in my area.
I've doubled checked here
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
surely this is mis-selling?

No: if it's a mistake and the infrastructure isn't there then they haven't sold it to you yet.

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
Ok, so let's say I buy it and then they install
i get alright internet but I'm none the wiser that it's not actually full fibre because the general population don't know about these things.

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
@Eskimalita @TimmyBGood Sky has just done this very thing to us. We gave notice to terminate contract with previous provider as had entered into deal with Sky for FF Broadband, Sky Stream TV (broadband dependent) and phone line. 3.5 weeks later and 2 days before being cut off by previous provider, had call from Sky simply saying 'we won't be providing your broadband as the results of the site survey tell us it's too expensive to instal FF to your address (a street on a housing estate in a town, not rural or remote). Their website still advertises FF available at our address. They had already sent us the puc for Sky Stream which we had plugged in and were using so were contracted to stay with them even though they would not fulfill the terms of the contract. We were about to be cut off by other provider thereby losing the ability to stream TV. They were not interested, refused to apologise or offer any recompense. I believe this to be false advertising and mis-selling

Why does the BT Wholesale result for your address say?
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
That's an awkward one: the Openreach estimate was FTTP is available (meaning fibre infrastructure is in the area) but 'partial Direct in Ground' means new duct was required to actually reach the address itself, and it's presumably that which Openreach or a subcontractor subsequently said was impractical or too expensive.
Resellers such as Sky have no involvement in this infrastructure installation, and can only go by the Openreach reports.

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
Thanks @TimmyBGood, your explanation's helpful. It's a pity Sky can't do the same. Still feels like false advertising on their part. At no point did they explain our contract was dependent on results of this survey. Website claims full fibre available at address (as does Openreach website). Very misleading! I had no concept they could simply call me after almost a month and say they refused to provide the broadband they were advertising.

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
Hi
Sorry for late repy. I think the info has been updated since I first posted. I know Community Fibre have built along the main road, but there is no existing BT ducting in my cul-de-sac so they won't be going to the expense of connecting us . BT have been laying full fibre cable along the main road recently too and I am hoping they do have the funding to lay cable channels in the cul-de-sac.
Thank you

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
Ok, so
WBC FTTP Downstream line rate up to 1000 upstream line rate upto to 220
FTTP install process 1 Stage
I know I have the original copper line .
Sky said last year they would organise BT open reach to visit our home to look at running a new cable to our house, it never happened , got fed up chasing them😒
we only have broadband now, and with our contract up for renewal in the next few months I don't want to upgrade then find out I'm paying Full Fibre but only receiving what we already have Super fast

Re: Sky offering me full fibre but I know it’s not available
Sky are proactively contacting customers at the minute offering current speeds without recontracting or losing discounts . Obviously for you that means you will recontract as usual in a couple of months but the price you are quoted now should last for 24months apart from yearly increases
You can obviously go for higher speeds ie 100Mbps is cheaper than the 80 Mbps you also have 150,300,500 and 1000 Mbps
The 1 stage install indicates that it should take 12 days from ordering to activation
