Sky max pod Ethernet socket

On the sky max pod, there are what look like two Ethernet sockets. 
mare they usable and how to set them up.  No instructions received or so far, found online

Both should work as wifi to ethernet bridges

 

Ie wifi from the hub and ethernet to a device

Or a pod can be on the end of an ethernet run from the router, or connected to ethernet cable from a Powerline network adapter. I imagine they may also act in a passthrough mode.

 

All of these should be automatically configured: pods are essentially not possible to administer separately.
