Sky fiber router

Hi all. So I have a sky fiber router connected to the fiber box.

the router currently sits there and only sits in between the fiber box and the eero router which everything is connected to (cabled and WiFi)

my question is can I remove the sky router or does it have to be there to do the conversion for the fiber?

I have tried plugging the eero router into the fiber but didn't get a connection (don't know if there are any config details I need for the eero)

I am open to moving to something like a ubiquiti box if needed but would be in a similar place unless I can just unplug the fiber controller and put it into the ubiquiti box.

anyone had experience or done anything like this

@AMPro many third party routers can be directly connected to the fibre ONT. However the router needs to support an authentication method Sky uses. The eero does not support the older DHCPv4 Option61 that works on every line. However 80% of Openreeach and 100% of City Fibre lines support the alternate DHCPv6 PD which I believe your eero supports by default.  Easiest way is to simoly plug  it in and see if it connects.

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of first you will lose the digital voice line Sky provides and secondly Sky's diagnostic systems require the Sky hub's WiFi to work. Therefore to get support for line issues you will need to switch back to the Sky hub.
