Hi my second attempt of putting something on here,
Yesterday Sky cancelled my upgrade to fibre optic this was the second time. I initially put in a complaint got some comp money but they now have cancelled my second contract/upgrade but where happy to start a new contract/ upgrade, so my 2nd complaint will be going in. I've started the 3rd upgrade now hopefully it will be done in 2024, any similar issues people have had ???

Do you currently have adsl broadband with sky and your line with another provider or do you have both services with sky?

All with Sky, just needs apparently some small extra work, Openreach need to repair duct it's broken but needing to get authority as it's under foot path, from who they won't tell me

Find out more@Annoyed-custom007 If Openreach need to dig to repair damage ducting then that could be why your order is being cancelled, they will have to get permission from your local council and possibly energy and water providers if it interferes with their ducting/pipes or cables, it may mean it's not worth the financial outlay when you already have a working service.

If openreach are waiting for permission to work from a local authority or private landowner the order can time out and fail while they wait to get this and openreach are not obliged to supply details on who they are waiting on, the survey engineer would normally explain who they are waiting if the had visited your property while planning the work but would only do that if there was someone at home at the time

But then why do they start again with new contract/upgrade doesn't make sense. at the minute the whole estate is getting fiber laid not by Openreach as I asked but another local company , maybe contracted out to them ???

They could be retrying the order as it resubmits the permission to the third party
but more likely the sales agents are putting it through without check the reason for the previous failures

Find out more@Annoyed-custom007 Another company laying fibre is probably an Altnet supplier, if it is then it may be worth asking if they are laying in your street as they may be doing it via pole(in my area it's You fibre as Openreach have zero plans for full fibre), if they are laying via underground ducting they may still do it as the Altnet companies tend to be less cautious about the financial outlay as they are usually backed by substantial start up capital.
