Sky broadband

I moved to a new build just over 3years ago. I want to change broadband provider. I'm  currently on a 30 day rolling contract and the company SeeTheLight is controlled by Sky. Why when I approach Sky to supply  broadband to my property they say they can't at  the moment but keep an eye out. Why can't they?

Sounds like your in an area which has broadband provided by the Open Fibre Networks group which is an 'altnet' set of companies who use this cabling. Sky do not provide services over this network which is why you cant order Sky.

Essentially new builds often popup which these exclusive deals which essentially locks residents down to a set of providers in some sort of monopoly. Bit dodgy if you ask me.
