Sky broadband down. They have made changes

Sky had problems over the weekend which affected Internet access. There is an issue between the main SkyQ box and the router. Turning both off and on cleared it but I have had tne same issue all day today. No chance of speaking with anyone and their own "tests" are useless. I do no see why the Skyq box should cause issues with the internet. Its yime to dump sky

@skytalkisrubbish the issue over the weekend involved an issue with satellite data there were no major issues affecting the broadband service. The fix was to power down all Q boxes then reboot the main box followed by the Q minis if you have them. Thst dhould clear the issue as the boxes should pick up the correct configuration details and clear the no satellite data message.

However the storm will have moved quite a few satellite dishes so if you keep getting the message that could be the issue. When calling Sky do not accept offers of help,from the bot but stay on the line to an agent but wait times will be long as lots of other people trying to get help.

Re: Sky broadband down. They have made changes

Sorry but I agree about the weekend but I have had to do the same resets again today. Its making work extremely difficult. I also don't understand how the skyQ box can screw the router. It should just be internet traffic in and out. The whole structure is strange

@skytalkisrubbish that fault could not affect a router so any issue is probably coincidental

@skytalkisrubbish

Your thread title says 'They have made changes'. There have been no broadband changes.

Re: Sky broadband down. They have made changes

Firstly., they did make config changes over the weekend which affected the SKYq box. Incidentally that box is the main wifi router not the "hub". The privlem carried on into late Tuesday when it magically stabilised. If you look at the channel line up there have been significant changes. The company is a joke and its no wonder people are buying firesticks. No need for anyone to reply I know that factually I am correct

@skytalkisrubbish As long as it is all working again for you that is all it requires!

That was caused by a fault and nothing to do with any changes as Sky does not make such changes should that have been the case over a weekend.

Re: Sky broadband down. They have made changes

Whats the point. They did make changes, this was backed up by one of their call centre people talking about "compatability" issues between the Skq box and and the router/ hub. There was clearly a problem between the two pieces of kit. All I want is an explanation as to why I had 2 workdays disrupted.

@skytalkisrubbish

Sky broadband discussed on here is a domestic service and whilst it's fine for customers who work from home to use it, if it's disrupting your work days you should perhaps consider a business subscription.

Re: Sky broadband down. They have made changes

@skytalkisrubbish To make this a little more clear when you say sky Q, most associate this with the satellite system feed, although there is an older sky Q hub that is used for broadband obsoleted now Dec2025 for security reason's and to be replaced by the sky Broadband Hub, there was a MAJOR problem on the sky Q TV side that affected many user's, if this is not your case and you where caught with both conditions at the same time it can happen ....

Sky Q TV box is not the main wifi but it does get used to hotspot and boost signals if indeed you are using that feature!

Re: Sky broadband down. They have made changes

Sorry but you are wrong, there are multiple articles available that confirm my point, in fact try turning off your SkyQ box and get to the internet as you would with a normal router, it fails. If as you say, older boxes became "out of date" that reinforces teh point around compatibility issues and that changes were made.

Its irrelevant now as the lot will be going

@skytalkisrubbish Your choice, the Forum is not sky Customer Service and trying to explain and help when possible, not in your case though it's proving just to difficult!

@skytalkisrubbish

Look we are all just customers here, Not Sky customer services, Its irrelevant to us if you cancel or not

We dont care how many days you lost and personally I couldn't care less what, If any changes Sky made to anything

Sorry for sounding abrupt but your services are working now and hopefully will until you cancel them... Or dont, Either way strangers on a forum dont care

There are other customers on here now that need advice... This thread seems done to me
