Sky WIFI Max

Debating whether to upgrade router to sky wifi max, currently have gigafast Internet with loads connected. Would I be able to just change new router name and password so my current devices would auto connect and would older devices still connect i.e. is it backward compatible.

@andy7bhoy Changing the name no problem older devices you may have to work at to get those going!

@andy7bhoy yes you can change the SSID and password to match your current hub - thexsetting is in the My Sky app. If you have Sky Q boxes I would not reccomend switching to Sky Max as you lose the Q box's wifi hotspots. The new hub is theoretically faster but relies on a 5GHz signals to achieve higher speeds shich can be a problem in older homes.

The other potential issue is you cannot split the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals as WiFi6 requires both to be synchronised which if you have IOT kit can be a pain. Most devices can be madecto connect by temporarily turning off the 5GHz band connecting the devices and then switching it back on which works with most devices.
