Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
Are you in a Cityfibre area? If so then Sky might be provisioning your service via them rather than Openreach which will require an install of another fibre cable.
FYI Only the 2.5gb and 5gb offerings are through CityFibre, the other full fibre packages are still being provided by OpenReach.

That does not agree with what Sky have told the forum superusers.
Where a customer's address is passed by both Openreach fibre and City Fibre Sky will always use the City Fibre connection and will provide whatever speed the customer wishes to order the customer will not be given the option to have an Openreach connection. Only customers on City Fibre's XSG-PON network can order the Gigafast+ products which is currently not every City Fibre connection as the upgrade from GPON is not yet complete.

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
Well for my area in North Wales we don't have city fiber so when my connection goes live on Tuesday Sky will have no choice but to use the existing openreach connection

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
@Dec712 given Openreach fibre has roughly 4 times the coverage than City Fibre that is likely to be the most likely solution.

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
@Dec712 Have you taken the hub out the box and prepped it all up for the changeover, or just waiting on the day one swap and doing it all then. If you have the sky Max hub going to get locked down fairly quickly once you put it online and sky FW update it!

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
@Dec712 The sticker is the dont connect it to the network before this date as there will be no sky connection until it is activated, should be no reason to not have it sitting out powered on and you may even be able to connect to it via wireless web browser and for sure by Ethernet, should not clash with the current Vodafone! All depends on what you are doing with the hub ssid/password for a quick swapover or reconnecting all your devices to the new sky box!

That's true in most places: as their name suggests, their business model is based on targeting high population density areas. Realistically it's very unlikely there's ever going to be a competitor for Openreach over large swathes of the UK because the potential financial return just doesn't justify the installation costs of putting in a parallel cabled network: Openreach inherited many decades of state-subsidised distribution infrastructure.

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
Just the heads up it went live successfully and ive connected all my devices to it and ive connected the phone cable to the back of the router my cordless phone at first didn't work but it got it self going after an hour or so and all I need to do know is phone ADT fire and security to add the Sky WiFi to the panel as they won't let you do it for some reason so a successful story.

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
@Dec712 Don't you just love it when a plan all falls into place with NO blips along the way, welcome to sky!👍
Do keep the eye on the phone connection some do take a little longer to fall into place on the digital side, and watch incoming or outgoing calls, both are seperate from each other!

Re: Sky Ultra Fast FTTP broadband question
@Dec712 No ONT issue's swap about ones for the others etc, just the straight hub out, hub in assign and off you pop!
Thrash the life out it now get everything off your back and don't worry about the speed must get the 900Mb/s right out off the box!
Also White SR213 hub or the Black SR203, think you would be the white wi-fi 6 puppy!
