Sky Max easy fix

I. Just wonder why Sky Max is so difficult making  5ghz  change to 2.4 ghz. Most people need 2.4 to make most of their older and even new kit work in my case Ringdoor bell  latest model, WiFi Thermostat and wireless speakers. 
We are in the age of AI , supercomputer and almost human robots, could not manufacture reconnaissance this , my cunning plan a sliding switch on the hub to toggle Between 5 and 2.4 so you can setup you kit without running though hoop to do the basics? Copywrite just in case it happe after this 😁

ps I'am sticking with ye old hub where everything works !

Our suspicion is that splitting the bands results in a huge performance hit, and Max is by definition sold on performance.

@Ian2240 the new Wifi Max hub is a wifi6 device, wifi6 uses both wifi bands. Actually most people do not need to split wifi bands according to Sky but a fair few do especially if they have older kit or have bought IOT kit with cheap wifi chips fortunately brands like Ring have supported dualband SSIDs for some time.

The recommended process to connect kit which cannot connect to the dual band SSID is to use the switch in the My Sky app (so much more elegant than an external switch 😀) to turn off the 5GHz band then connect the device to the hub's 2.4GHz wifi and then turn the 5GHz signal back on and most devices will stay connected it takes a couple of ninutes. Leaving the 5GHz band off is like buying a fast car and always driving in first gear.

Although Sky sell the Wifi Max package to extend wifi no matter the type of connection the customer has its primary use case is with the Ultrafast full fibre products where you can use its faster wifi capabilities..
