Recently got the supposedly all singing and dancing Max Hub and after 3-4 weeks all we have is wifi problems. It seems the signal really doesnt travel far at all.
So far we have been sent 2 x extender pods, after yet another 45 min call today a 3rd is on the way. Beside the hub or a pod I can get wifi speeds of 400-500 mb + but if i go into a room with a pod on other side of the wall the speed can drop to 20 mb and Sky Q and a Netflix drop out all together.
So frustrating and really wish we had have stayed with the old Sky Hub!! if pod number 3 doesnt help an engineer will have to be booked but appreciate any other help or advice!! Thanks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Simon27276 if you live in a property with solid or thick internal walls the WIFi Max set up is not ideal as it uses a closed 5GHz signalto communicate between the hub and the pods which does not pass through solid walls as well as the lower frequecy 2.4GHz band the older hubs used. The higher frequency signal carries more data so is faster. .
Positioning the pods can help as more signal will pass through doorways so placing pods in halls or landings can help. There is a useful app called WiFi sweetspots which gives you an instant reading of wifi speed as you move round your home.

Does the hub mot auto switch between 5g and 2.4g or do you need to set it to do that?? If so how do you set it that way and would you recommmend ?
Will chevk that website out. Thank you.
