@JimM1 Sorry don't have a personal windows laptop. Have a work laptop but it works only via VPN, so won't show me the true broadband speed. So I'll need to try another windows laptop with Ethernet before trying anything else. Does beg the question if I should downgrade as if there are so many caveats to getting any decent speed.

@mormegil Thanks, I am thinking of trying out a different windows pc via Ethernet to check if that changes anything.

@KashifMD Yeah it's best to try a different laptop, the vpn of my work laptop does weird things to a line test and thinks I am connected at 3000mbps or higher

Did you use the Ethernet cable that came with the hub or different one?

@mormegil I have used both the one which Sky has given which is cat5e and I have a cat6 and the result is the same.

@KashifMD There is always a possibility that although the system is reporting on your stat's as 1Gb broadband that the provision has not been setup right, with all your testing via ethernet, are various testing sites all reporting the same kind of speed, ie fast.com, ookla, thinkbroadband, the link i think i sent to you for testing. If only one of them goes to the 990mb/s then you have 1GB installed, if none go as high, then you need to report it to sky to have OR come check the connection speed.

@KashifMD Your cat 6 cable would be best placed on the wan4 port of the SR203 router and the other end connected to the ONT.
Your reboot for testing, NO Q connected, only Ethernet to laptop and wan to the ONT.
Re post your new stat's so we see no collision packets on your lan data.
