Hello,
Had an email and text from Openreach over 6 weeks ago saying Fibre was now available to order at my property. BT, EE and Openreach websites confirm this. Had a flyer from Sky a week later advertising the new service but when I called the sales number got told to wait. My broadband contract runs out with Sky in the next few weeks and would like to know if this is going to be sorted anytime soon as I can get 8x the speed with another provider for the same price. Next door had BT a 4 weeks ago and the speeds are so much better that fibre to the cab 🙂
My best guess is a database needs updating so the new areas covered by fttp can be looked up.
Thanks for the help.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@micklpool I had the same situation that you are in after FTTP was installed around my area. I had to wait around 6-8 weeks before it became available to me on the website and also that Sky could order it when I called about it.
Might be just that you need to keep checking back every few days to see if this changes. Even if you did take out another 18 month contract you can still upgrade within that and your end date should not change for the end of the new contract.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Once I log in it shows I have 2 weeks left in contract gives 3 options. When I click on the sky fibre option it runs a check and then it pops up with you are already on our fastest broadband and to register when it becomes available.
Last thing I want to do it lock myself into a new 18-month contract when I can get this with other providers. You can tell the look up for both BT and EE are different as the order of the houses is different to Sky’s and other providers. They must be looking at a more updated database. You would think all suppliers would get the same as this could cost customers as BT/EE will get first pick on new installs.

Thanks @Highlinder, nice to know someone else has had this problem. Just checked and it was exactly 6 weeks ago I got the message from Openreach.
Hoepfully not long to wait now then 🙂

It might be a case of updating their databases. For some reason not all ISPs who use Openreach offer their FTTP product nationwide in all Openreach areas. However, it might just be a case of the respective ISP system (in this case Sky) needing to be updated.
