Sky Broadband Relocation Issue – Advice Needed

I have been using Sky Broadband for the past nine months (still under contract with three months left). I am now moving to my new home in Dublin 3, so I contacted Sky Customer Care to request a transfer. However, they informed me that they cannot move my broadband because there is no Sky connection available in that area.

Since they are unable to provide the service at my new address, I asked to cancel my contract. However, they told me that I would need to pay a €120 cancellation fee, even though this situation is beyond my control. The customer service representative suggested that I continue paying the monthly charges until June 2 and then call again to cancel it for free..

I feel this is unfair, as I am not at fault. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? What would you recommend in this situation? I would really appreciate your valuable suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Milton16

You've been incorrectly informed by the agent. Sky should cancel your contract FOC if you move to an area out of their service range. I would try calling again to see if you get an advisor who actually knows what they are talking about

I am NOT a Sky Employee

Bit late here but I wanted to find out if you managed to get the contract cancelled FOC?

Many thanks
