Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Damian5 more wifi is often not better wifi as having both the Sky hub and Amplfi using wifi at once would require careful management to avoid interference. A whole home system like Amplifi with satellites should give better coverage than a single router like the Sky hub. Therefore if you have to use the Sky hub to connect to the line turn off its wifi if using the Amplifi for wifi.
Hopefully your engineer will know how to avoid interference issues and how to turn off the Sky hub's wifi.

All good! Thanks @JimM1
Have shut off the Sky wifi and disconnected Q boxes. Have still got Sky and Amplifi routers though, plus Amplifi mesh points. Sky Stream pucks arriving next week.
It should all therefore be much better as there's no Sky or Q wifi interference. Am now just working out if it's better to try and take the Sky router out of the system, if that's possible.
However it sounds like it won't necessarily help if I do? Thanks again

You are the only one that can see the effect, With all that you have done so far it should have improved
and you should see the difference, BUT has the wireless WiFi been disabled on the SR203 router,
If that has then your Amplifi is in complete control and if it has been and you are not seeing any black spot's and your speeds are all good, then that is the guidance.
As chrisee said above, HE has extensive knowledge and you know how WiFi is a minefield, but it
is down to your tech advisor to get it sorted for you.
As before, do you speed test see how it is going, that is your basis....

Thanks @JimM1 . Yep, wireless has been switched off on the Sky router. Speeds seem to have risen in some rooms and fallen in others. Have got the technician coming back when the Sky Stream pucks arrive. Hopefully he can optimise it all a bit better then. Thanks for all the help

Super interested in how you're getting on with this.
upgraded to ultrafast+. Checked tonight and speed to the sky hub is 500mbps but doing a Speedtest to the Amplifi hd I'm getting 190mbps. Obviously you lose when on wifi but that's a lot.
Would love to plug amplify hd directly in as don't need the phone line (who does nowadays)
Did you go to any sites for additional info? What info did you put in for your settings and where did you find it?
cheers mate

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Lizo84 couple of points first if the Amplifi is only giving Wifi speeds around 200Mb/s removing the Sky hub is going to make no difference assuming you have already turned off its wifi. The speed is dictsted by the layout, type of construction and level of interference within your home. Positioning of the units can make a huge difference get them above obstructions like radiators
If for other reasons you want to connect the Amplifi.directly to the ONT it maybe possible. The main authentication method Sky use is a system called DHCPv4 Option 61 which I am not sure Amplifi supports but if it does you need to add a user name where literally "anything@skydsl" works without the quote marks and a password which can be "anything". If it doesnt support that you can try DHCPv6 PD which doesnt require a string but doesnt always work due to what kit is in the exchange.
Taking the Sky hub out means Sky can no longer provide support in case of a fault which isnt an issue if you can swap the hub back in so the diagnostics work.

thanks so much for the really quick reply, mate. So to explain my setup which I should've done in the previous post.
my fiber to the premises comes straight in to the top floor of my house. This is where my sky router sits. I then have a CAT6 ethernet cable running out of this into the amplifi HD router which sits centrally in the landing of my house. My signal is good everywhere and this set up seems to be fine, in fact, I've had no issues with it, hardly at all, in a good year or two when they used to be often. I've recently changed my Speed from ultrafast to ultrafast+ Which means My skybox is currently getting 500mbps but a speed test on Amplifi HD Gives me a round 170 to 190mbps.
Because this is such a drop, I was thinking instead to attempt to plug-in directly into the ONT (think it's called) To see if the speed will increase. My sky router is doing nothing currently Except the ethernet out port feeding the amplifi hd. Just trying to work out whether any gain is worth trying it unless you think it's going to make no difference?

Yep, I get it. Am not a technical expert but I asked my engineer the same question and he said not possible, which is why I still have the Sky router with our Superfast connection. In my office I get 200+ speed, but it goes as low as 2 in our upstaors room so it drops off pretty fast which has been annoying

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Lizo84 I think the the speed drop is unlikely to be being caused by the Sky hub as it will output the same speed over its ethernet port as it receives but you can test the speed by connecting a device to the end of the cable feeding the Amplifi. I have nevervheard of a hub outputting slower speeds over ethernet somif its faulty its a pretty obscure issue.
I have a not disimilar set up myself where my Sky hub feeds my Deco wifi system using a 15m ethernet cable and get the full 500Mb/s in my main living area where the main Deco unit is positioned. Have you turned off the Sky wifi on the hub? If you haven't thst could well be the cause of the slower speeds. I am not familiar with the Amplifi myself so other wise I am stuck.

@Chrisee and others
thanks for the response. Just whittled it down a little bit further.
i've connected to the Wi-Fi on my sky Hub, which I've just activated. I'm getting around 400/480 MBPS.
connected to the amplifi HD router stood in the exact same place and I'm getting around 400 MBPS so your theory about them being the same is exactly right.
when I've been doing a Speedtest, I've been doing it through the amplifi hd app itself which is good as far as detail it lets you go into is concerned, but seems to be potentially not accurate speed wise (it shows it's getting 150mbps.
i've just come downstairs and used Speedtest which I did upstairs. It's a lot slower down here although still 150mbps. I'm going to dig into the amplifi settings To see if there's anything I can do. So it looks like there's no benefit to be connecting directly like you said.
You're all amazing. Thank you so much.

@Lizo84 As chrisse has said and pointed out, there are far to many variables on Wireless wi-fi connected for speed test, even the speed test's can vary wildly depending on response from the server, the router, the wi-fi connected device at that time. You need to test the cable at the second amplifi router by plugging in a laptop, Ethernet only, all wi-fi wireless devices turned off and get your starting point, If your package is 500mb/s then you should get close to that on a wired connection if it has a gigabyte ethernet port. Rule of thumb is wireless is normally 70% of rated for over heads so 500 = 350 + or - depending on signal etc. Anything above is a plus.....
