Seriously annoyed
I hvae receintly move to Sky for a better deal only to find out that it will effectivly cost me extra money
to have features which are normally standard.
i have 2 kids one 16 one 10, as you can expect perental controls play a big part of the internet
limiting access to certain times (bed time etc) or indeed beign able to switch it off entirly
these are normally features which most if not all other providers allow control over via
the router web portal,
SKY, no not on your nelly, you want them standard features to keep you kids safe its an Extra £6 a month
to use them.
SKY i now remember why i left you in the first place, its all about money and nothing more
if you can get away with charging extra for something you are going to do it

Vodafone, Zen Internet and Virgin Media are similar to Sky in this regard, you get the basics free (Sky Broadband Shield in Skys case) but if you're looking for (say) individual device control then you have to pay extra (or use a 3rd party router). That's partly how they give you a low price in the first place.

Re: Seriously annoyed
Hi Thanks for your reply
yes i understand that but its not right, parents should have the ability to restrict internet, times and content WITHOUT
being charged more for the privilege.
i understand the need to charge because they are providing a conveniance for using it through the phone app
and if people what that feature fine, but they should allow management via the web portal without
having to pay its a basic need of a responsible parent and there charging for it
its just a bit rubbish to be honest.
had i known that was the case i wouldnt have even considered signing up to sky and i will be giving serious consideration
to leaving while i am still in the cooling off period !
