Security Question.

Avast warned me of a new connection. I ran a network scan and it shows the location as WA8 Widnes UK.

I am a long way away from Widnes although I did visit there yesterday.

Is this something to be concerned about?

@frog3 determination of location can be done in multiple ways so without knowing how your scan did it its impoossible to be certain. If you want to hide your location you should be able to control what information your devices give out. One of the normal ways sites determine kocation is from your IP address which with Sky may or may not be accurate it varies quite a lot.

Personally I dont worry too much  but its sensible to review the privacy controls on your devices

Thanks for responding @Chrisee, I will check my privacy controls.

When I search using location my results are not of much help as they are over a hundred miles away, also the ads that I receive on screen relate to the activity of others on their devices within the same building, is this normal?
