Scammers - I assume

Morning,

Just had a phone call on my home number purporting to be someone from Sky.  He explained that during this evening they will be switching servers and my wifi will be affected so he asked me to check my internet speed.

I asked him how I could tell this was a genuine call from Sky and he replied that if I wished he could give me my account number and other details.  He stated I could check this was genuine on the MY Sky App.

I stated that I was unwilling to give any details and he then stated I could contact customer services and they would confirm what was happening.

He as very pleasant throughout and not like a normal scam call, he wished me a good day and hoped it was a good one and was very courteous.

Our Sky Broadband account is in my PARTNERS name, not mine, I just have Mobile with Sky.

Beware out there folks!!!

Pretty sure it is a scam as sky doesn't proactively contact customers about maintenance and server issues

That's the clue it's a scam: even if an ISP were to make such calls about 'switching servers' (which they don't) it's irrelevant to speed.  The typical aim is for the caller to start talking about 'compensation' for low speed, convince the subscriber to install remote access software to 'verify' this, and then invite them to log into online banking on the same device to see a payment arrive.
