SR203 power supply (PSU) causing interference to the mains electricity

Hi,

I got my Skybox SR203 and I suspect that its power supply (switched PSU) emits a lot of interference to the mains electricity line.
As a result, when my power line adapter (sometimes referred to LAN over mains) is plugged in to the same extension lead it does not work. When I connect it to a different mains socket it works.
I also connected it to a separate short extension lead (1m) and I got connectivity but very low throughput. Clearly the bigger distance from the SKybox PSU the better connectivity.
Also as soon as I unplug the Sky PSU the connectivity between the two remote adapter is established.

The ultimate proof will be to change the PSU to a completely different type but need to get one with the same voltage and connector type.
Note: my power line adaptor is very old but previously worked well sitting next a Virgin hub PSU and many other PSUs.

Anybody got the problem?

Kind regards
D.

What speed do you get . Normally its interference between a g.fast mastersocket and the powerline that causes the issues.

Are you able to plug the powerline into a different electric socket further away from the mastersocket

Re: SR203 power supply (PSU) causing interference to the mains electricity

Thanks for your reply. I get speeds depending on how far is the power line adapter from the Skybox PSU.

As mentioned from 0 (the same extentsio lead), to 1Mbps (1 m away) or 10Mbps+ with a socket across the room. Obvoiusly, I want to avoid having it in different socket as I would need to ran an ethernet cable from accross the room to the hub. I also have a timer switching the hub and adapter on/off so have them together is a must.

Cheers

If your powerline adapters are very old then its likely they do not have the more modern interference shielding technology built in so it may be time to invest in some new ones.

Also all powerline adapter manuals will state that the adapters should be plugged directly into a wall socket and not an extension lead.
