SKY Max Pod not connecting

Hi, I'm new to Sky 900Mb BB & TV (changd from BT - wish I hadn't) and took delivery last week of a SKY Max Router and TV puck. I plugged everything and it seemed to be working fine. However, I have a low band width area in one of the bedrooms <30 Mbps and the service checker in "My SKY" say's that the Sky Stream Puck has poor connection. So acquired SKY Max pod thinking it may help and plugged it in >the light goes solid green to solid blue then blank for about 30 secs and the begins to flash white - all seems good. However, it does this for roughly 30mins then goes out for maybe 5 mins then starts to flash white again then repeats the cycle.

I took from this that the POD is having difficulty connecting router so went through many of the suggeted solutions on the discussion board. I have moved the POD to within 10cm of the router - no connection, have rebooted the router several times and have gone through the process of reseting the 2 bands too - no connection, have also used an CAT 5e ethernet cable twice in combination with power off's and router resets - no connection. Also tried to connect manually using the POD serial number however the instructions are incomplete and don't "guide" you through the process as indicated. In fact they don't guide anythig... My last attempt is to use a CAT 6 cable as one post seemed to indicate that this may help?

I'm still in my cooling off period (31 days) and so could still cancel - this is driving me bananas - it should be simple!!!  I'm not stupid (I have a dregree in computing science so I know my way around comms cables, IP address, MAC addresses, routers etc., but this is taking the mickey.

HELP!
