Rubbish wifi
Why can I not get good WiFi upstairs or in the garden. I even have WiFi boosters. I did not have this issue with virgin. Your contact sky and they try to sell you more equipment. This is unacceptable - good WiFi should be standard

It's an additional subscription rather than an equipment sale, but that's how Sky has decided to do it: BT/EE does the same.
All ISPs have to balance equipment cost vs monthly revenue: the smaller ones just don't offer booster hardware at all and leave their customers to acquire such things elsewhere.

Re: Rubbish wifi
@HappyH You would need to define standard to start with, newer equipment pushes the boundries on speed etc, the go faster option does have some down sides, and there is NO TWO hubs/routers that are alike, and that you wifi boosters are even any good with the setup you have now!

Re: Rubbish wifi
Good wi-fi should be standard but there are just so many vaiables it is pretty much impossible to predict (especially for us non-techies).
Both the current Sky router and the one from our previous provider (TalkTalk) are not up to the job of covering all rooms in our bungalow, probably due to the fact that the router is located towards the front of the property (and cannot be easily moved) rather than centrally as recommended.
Rather than get tied to one providers solution (if they have one) I did my research and determined that a mesh network would be the best answer. Purchased a three pack of Amazon Eero 6 devices about 2 years ago when they were on offer and have not had any wi-fi coverage issues since. Even reaches the garden / patio for when the uk weather is good enough to be outdoors ! We have FF150 and whilst we do not do any gaming we often stream live sport and Netflix via wi-fi with no buffering issues at all.
There is obviously a cost, but there are reasonable mesh systems out there now that start at well less than £100.
The upside is that once you have invested in a mesh it is yours to keep and with no monthly costs. It also makes moving between providers very easy as you simply turn off the supplied router wi-fi and continue to use the mesh wi-fi - no SSID/password changes needed so all devices that use wi-fi just connect as normal saving a great deal of faffing around re-connecting everything.
I hope you find a satisfactory solution.
