Router caught fire

Was sat watching tv when tv switched off, as did the connection on my phone. Went to the router and the stand it was on (paper nearby it) was smouldering. A jacket hanging up was also beginning to melt along the bottom. Router burned my hands when I tried to pick it up (I know stupid thing to do but I could hear the router making these weird noises) and move it. Covered it in water but unplugged everything first. Didn't know whether to call fire brigade or not. On top of this, we had a small gas leak!!! There's no one to call at sky at this time.

@Jes8 Maybe not in sky, but the gas leak you got that stopped?

Re: Router caught fire

Yes that was sorted quickly, thankfully. I thought I could smell something but the smell of the burning had taken over the gas smell. I have never known a router to get hot like that and it's not like it's in a hot area!

Re: Router caught fire

@Jes8 Few have complained on the Forum before for some reason and does seem to be always the sky Max version, something must be going bad in it to do that! Normal temp is just slight warm to the touch!

Report it to Sky: they have a specific protocol for investigation of safety risks.
