Route keeps restarting
The router keeps restarting most days. When this happens it will restart up to 10 times before it settles down. I have complained about this before and it's an issue we've had since joining sky. Not happy at all, could this be escalated please.
thanks
jason

Re: Route keeps restarting
@Jason134 Is this a full reboot to a red light on the router or is this just a loss of your connection?
If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

Re: Route keeps restarting
Hi Jason
I've been in the same position as you for a while.
I'm an IT engineer by trade, and an ex telecomms engineer. There is nothing wrong with your router. LIne tests will prove it works. Firmware updates will prove it works. Factory reset and see how it works after that will prove there is nothing wrong with it.
Now we have that bit out of the way - Sky just won't admit that the devices they send out to provide you with broadband services are just crap. Theres no other way to say it. I think (And this is my opinion, not confirmed by Sky or anyone else), that the devices suffer a memory issue and the hardware configuration on these devices were never updated to cope with todays IoT demands, and fail on a regular basis due to the demands.
I've had three routers now all with the same issue over time. A factory reset does indeed help for a couple months before the issue happens again. And i too get multiple reboots in a row.
The answer? Buy yourself a third party router and configure that. I am looking at one now, I just need make sure Sky will give me (Or I can find), my username and password to authenticate against their services. I am happy with Sky on the whole, I have BB, TV and mobile with them and 99% of my issues are resolved by their wonderful CS staff in the first instance. They just have S **T routers.
ASUS DSL-AC88U AC3100 is the router I am looking get to replace ours. As I live in the sticks I still have a DSL connection and not fibre or any of the fast stuff. But I'll take slow and stable right now.
