Just received new Sky Max Hub when activated will I have to reconnect all my smart devices to the new network or is it automatc?

The thought of doing it manually fills me with dread.

You will have to unless you change the Sky network name and password to match that of your previous hub.

That cannot be true unless it's a Max Hub replacing a previous Max Hub (in which case user settings are stored online)
