I recently upgraded my broadband tonthe ultrafast 500 mbps, I wasn't getting any like this only about 80 mbps, I contacted sky they did the usual tests and sent me a new router which was great for about a week I was getting between 300 and 400 mbps all over the house, but not it's dropped right back down to 80 or 90ish mbps.
I spoke to sky the agent wasn't very helpful and he said it's Wi-Fi and this happens, has anyone else experienced this?

Sky's hub are a basic solution and rarely can deliver 500Mb/s in every room of most homes due to design First thing to consider is do you need faster speeds as in practice few apps require speds over 100Mb/s - downloads are faster of courcse but is the time saved critical? As a guide streaming high quality UHD video uses under 30Mb/s.
If you decide you do then think where you need that speed if its for working from home would running an ethernet cable be a better solution?. If that is impractical using a powerline adapter kit thst uses your mains wiring to carry the signal to a distant room.
The other solution is to stop using the freebie Sky router's wifi entirely and invest in a whole home wifi system which uses multiple satellite units. Which you choose is down to the layout and construction in your home and what speed you consider you need. Budget around £100 for a basic system which should deliver 300Mb/s in most rooms far more if you require 500Mb/s in every room. Not all systems play nicely with Sky services especially if you have multiple Sky Q tv boxes,

The package you bought from Sky promises only ethernet speeds not WiFi speeds and the idea of the package is to provide UHD streaming speeds to many devices at once and not for you to be able to achieve 400-500mbps over WiFi to a single device which you'd rarely even need to use anyway.
